Principal Maxillofacial Prosthetist/Deputy Manager
Kirsty is a Principal Maxillofacial Prosthetist/Deputy Manager based in the Oral Facial Laboratory, University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock, Scotland.
Kirsty qualified as a Dental Technician in 2002 from Glasgow’s Langside College and gained employment the same year in Oral Facial Laboratory. In this post she focused on building her technical skills in Orthodontics and Complex Restorative dentistry.
Kirsty then earned an advanced qualification in Orthodontics from Edinburgh’s Telford College in 2005 and continued to build on her previous skills and knowledge, progressing into more complex cases and appliances.
In 2009 Kirsty attended Manchester Metropolitan University and in 2011 gained a Diploma in Professional Studies in Maxillofacial Prosthetics and Technology and has since gained substantial experience as a qualified Maxillofacial Prosthetist.
Kirsty has presented at professional congresses and has won Awards for Best First Time Lecturer (Glasgow 2017) and for outstanding Clinical or Technical practice (Swansea 2019)
Kirsty is a full member of the Institute of Maxillofacial Prosthetists & Technologists (IMPT) and is currently a co-opt member of the IMPT Council.
She is Membership Secretary for the Orthodontic Technicians Association (OTA and is currently working towards gaining equivalence with the Academy for Healthcare Science to become registered as a Clinical Scientist.
