James has been in General Dental Practice for 4 decades and over that time has developed a special interest in the care of the elderly and medically compromised patient as well as removable prosthodontics. He was a Board Member for 9 years for the FGDP(UK) and Course Director (Manchester) as well as current Examiner for the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry. He is an Assessor for the Fellowship Programme and lectures widely both in the UK for HEE/ LKSS Wessex Deaneries and abroad. He has been involved in the RCS(Eng) preparation courses for the ORE on the Clinical Governance side and has run many IQE/ORE clinical skills courses for what is now the LKSS Deanery. He was the external Examiner for the Dip Clinical Dental Technology of the RCS(Eng).

Through practice and immediate family, James has first-hand understanding of the difficulties in providing dental care for an aging and increasingly infirm population often under undue pressure from family members with unrealistic expectations and finds that much of the provision of appropriate care is down to good people management and communication skills.
