Jacqui qualified in 1983 having successfully passed the NEBDN National Certificate and the Kings College Hospital Qualification in Dental Nursing. Following her qualifications, she continued her lifelong learning in the following areas: Vocational Assessment, Internal Quality Assurance, Radiography, Teaching and Mentoring, Leadership and Management, together with FGDP(UK)’s Certificate in Practice Appraisal and FGDP(UK)’s Key Skill in Reflection. In 2016, Jacqui graduated from the University of Kent with a degree of Master of Science in Advanced and Specialist Healthcare (Applied Dental Professional Practice) and was awarded the annual Dissertation prize for the highest achievement.
Jacqui has previous experience as an NEBDN dental nurse examiner, as an assessor and verifier for City & Guilds Dental Nurse Diploma, as chairman of the NEBDN QA Committee, as a key skills assessor for the Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology, as an MSc educational supervisor at the University of Kent, as BADN’s Education Representative and as a Professional Advisor to the GDC.
Jacqui has also been invited to lecture nationally and internationally including at the Royal College of Surgeons, England, at the International Association of Dental Research Conference (Barcelona) and at The Dentistry Show NEC, Birmingham.
Jacqui has worked within the NHS for the last 16 years and is currently employed by Health Education England (London, Kent, Surrey & Sussex region), as one of their DCP Leads for Dental Nurses. This role is varied and includes commissioning dental nurse training and education together with responding to the corona virus pandemic with regards to the whole team. Jacqui has been published in the Dental Press and continues to strive to achieve the best for dental nurses in her role as BADN’s current President. Away from Dentistry, Jacqui supports several charities, including a local cancer charity ‘Janes Wish’ and enjoys her hobbies dressmaking and gardening. During the first Lockdown, Jacqui joined the national group ‘For the Love of Scrubs’ and made a number of scrubs sets for local GPs and care home staff.
