It covers the first aspect in providing excellent endodontic treatment - Endodontic Diagnosis and Treatment Planning.

In this series, we endeavour to provide a unified learning platform, providing sound evidence based practical solutions to common problems encountered in day to day practice of endodontics.

At the end of this programme of ten modules, you will understand current, independent evidence based advice and increase your knowledge about how to improve your endodontic treatment.

Aims

This course aims to provide learners with knowledge and understanding of the first aspect in providing excellent endodontic treatment - endodontic treatment and treatment planning.

Objectives

  • Outline how to make the correct diagnosis.
  • Understand the importance of radiology in the diagnostic process.
  • Discuss treatment options.
  • Understand how to gain appropriate consent from patients.
  • Understand how to plan the most appropriate treatment for patients.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course you will understand current, independent evidence based advice and increase your knowledge about:

  • Making a correct diagnosis - asking the right questions, listening to the patient, making appropriate comprehensive visual observations and physical examinations, using most appropriate tests.
  • Understand the importance of radiology and CBCT, when and how to use it in the diagnostic process.
  • Discussing treatment options.
  • Gaining patient consent so they understand the problem, options to deal with it, disadvantages and advantages and any financial implications.
  • Treatment planning, in the context of the overall restorative care.
