This course is a panel discussion exploring the practice of infant oral mutilation. It examines it's history, epidemiology, the myths and beliefs surrounding it, where is it practiced, sharing experiences from East Africa with lessons learnt from the field in Tanzania and Uganda. Importantly it looks at the call to action to end the practice of IOM and how that change can be brought about.

By the end of this course the user will understand infant oral mutilation; its history, epidemiology, where it is practiced, myths and beliefs surrounding it, the role of traditional healers, lessons learnt from the field and action to take to bring about the end to the practice.
