In November 2020 Bridge2Aid hosted a 2 day conference on ‘Remote and Rural Healthcare – How Can we do it Better?’. In advance of the next conference in November 2021 we are running a series of short webinars to continue the exploration of this important topic
This first recorded webinar features four international speakers, covering the topics of frugal technology and multi-modal teaching methods, student-centred and context-sensitive education to prepare health professionals for challenging contexts, and the importance of compassion in delivering support to those in need.
We strongly believe that there is much to be learned from the experiences of others in delivering and researching any aspect of providing healthcare in remote and rural areas and we hope you will join us for this event.
Speaker - Prof Janneke Frambach - Assistant Professor at the School of Health Professions Education (SHE), Maastricht University, the Netherlands.
Speakers - Dr David Okello - Director of Health Systems at the African Center for Global Health and Social Transformation (ACHEST) and Prof Francis Omaswa - Chief Executive Officer · Executive Director, African Center for Global Health and Social Transformation (ACHEST)
Speaker - Dr Martin Anderson - an ophthalmologist and honorary research fellow in the School of Medicine Global Health Team at the University of St Andrews
This course aims to provide an overview of the topics of frugal technology and multi-modal teaching methods, student-centred and context-sensitive education to prepare health professionals for challenging contexts, and the importance of compassion in delivering support to those in need.
On completion of this webinar delegates will be aware of how to educate Health Care Professionals to face the challenges of working in remote and rural settings and understand the importance of compassion in the post Covid world. Delegates will be made aware of how advances in frugal technology, and the use of virtual and other learning techniques can enhance education in remote and rural areas.
