  • About This Course

In collaboration with the College of General Dentistry and Office of Chief Dental Officer England, this recorded webinar discusses the importance of non-communicable diseases in an ageing population and focuses on Type 2 diabetes.

It addresses the burden of diabetes and its relationship with periodontitis, explaining visually the intimate link between the two diseases and how periodontal therapy can improve diabetes outcomes. The drive from medical organisations for engagement of oral healthcare professionals in helping them manage the diabetes epidemic is discussed and data shared from primary care dental practices who are engaging in early case detection for diabetes, in line with the 2019 commissioning standard spearheaded by the OCDO. It finishes by looking into the future for oral healthcare professionals as we gradually succeed in putting the mouth back into the body.
