Under the First Aid Regulations, all workplaces must have adequate first aid provision available for all employees, although there is no legal requirement to provide first aid treatment and facilities for non-employees, including patients. This is module 5 of a series of 5. 

Aims

Ths course aims to help learners understand the effect that electrocution has on a body, the type of burns that are a result of electrocution, what affects the degree of damage and how to manage the patient.

Objectives

  • To understand the effect that electrocution has on a body.
  • To understand how to manage a patient who you suspect of being electrocuted.
  • To understand the factors that affect the degree of damage.
  • To identify the types of burns associated with electrocution.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module you will be able to describe the effect that electrocution has on a body, the type of burns that are a result of electrocution, what affects the degree of damage and how to manage the patient.
