P268 Acute Adrenal Insufficiency

  • About This Course

Adrenal insufficiency is a condition in which the adrenal glands do not produce adequate amounts of steroid hormones, primarily cortisol; but may also include impaired production of aldosterone (a mineralocorticoid), which regulates sodium conservation, potassium secretion, and water retention.

Aims

This course aims to help learners understand a systematic approach to assessing acute adrenal insufficiently. An overview of how to manage acute adrenal insufficiency, and discuss how acute adrenal insufficiency impacts on dental treatment, will be given.
